Best Fruit Picking Farms in Minnesota for Family Days Out – There are so many wonderful farms in Minnesota to visit, almost all year round.
You can pick strawberries, cherries, lavender, blueberries, asparagus, and sunflowers in the early part of the year. Later on there are raspberries, blackberries, pears, apples and pumpkins ripening in the fields.
We have a great list of where to pick everything as well as a list of some of the best farms in MN.
Berry Hill Farm
6510 185th Ave NW, Anoka, MN 55303
At Berry Hill Farm they pride themselves on growing top quality strawberries, as well as other delicious produce, for you to go and select and pick.
“Here at the Berry Hill Farm we have strawberries, raspberries, and rhubarb during the summer season. Tentative schedule for strawberries is from approximately middle of June to the beginning of July. Raspberries are typically in season from early July to the middle of July. Rhubarb is ready to be picked around mid-May, but we will also pick through the strawberry season. Please remember that these dates are approximate.
Berry Hill fields are open during the spring and summer seasons so you can pick your own fresh strawberries. Middle of June typically marks the beginning of berry season but weather dictates actual dates.
Here’s an idea, instead of picking up your berries at the grocery store or farmer’s market, how about picking them from the patch yourself or with your family? One of the best ways to enjoy fresh summer produce is to pick-your-own – simply pay for the cost of your pick and enjoy the season’s best fruits. We accept cash or check.”

For size, we grow 11 kinds, and they are different shapes and sizes. The first picking is the king, which is the largest, but there aren’t as many of them. Firefly Berries – Strawberry Picking Minnesota
5542 23rd St NE, Rochester, MN 55906
Firefly Berries is a family run farm that grows delicious organic fruit for you and your family to pick.
“We believe very strongly in not only providing quality fruit, but also taking care of the soil and the planet. Because of this we do not spray any chemicals anywhere on our farm. We are not certified organic, but we grow in an organic and sustainable manner– using cover crops, crop rotation, green manure and natural compost to keep the soil healthy.
Strawberries are the most popular fruit we grow, and they are available as both we pick and you pick.
We currently grow two varieties of June-bearing strawberries. What is a June-bearing strawberry you may ask? It is a strawberry that produces one heavy crop of strawberries throughout the year, and that crop is produced during a 2-3 week period in June. This is in contrast to “everbearing” strawberries, which produce smaller crops throughout the growing season. The climate in Minnesota is most ideal for the June-bearing varieties, so that is what we choose to grow.”

The Finke’s have been a Carlton County tradition for over thirty years and they have perfected the art of growing Strawberries in a respectful and sustainable way. We are working closely with the Finke’s to make sure that we continue their tradition in the manner that their loyal customers have come to expect.
We use no insecticides, fungicides or convention fertilizers. Our weed control consists of a small flock of Geese that we use to keep down grasses in the strawberry field and a small legion of dedicated workers that scour the fields for invading weeds.”

Croix Farm Orchard
12971 St Croix Trail S, Hastings, MN 55033
Croix Farm Orchard – “In 1980, John and Kay Leadholm decided to make a move from Duluth, Minnesota. Having spent most of his life as a pilot, John was looking for something completely different to do – and they decided an apple orchard was just the perfect thing. A new hobby, a chance to learn how to grow apples, and a way to give families in the community special Fall memories. John always said he wanted a place for “city kids” to get out and see the country.
They looked at orchards in Washington and Oregon, but fell in love with this property and decided to stay a little closer to home. John and Kay raised their two children on the orchard and have truly turned it into a family business.
In 2019, we lost both John and Kay to different illnesses. We hope they are now living where apples are ripe year round! John and Kay’s two kids – Jeff and Sara – have embraced the family business. Jeff and Sara, along with their families, are excited to welcome you to the orchard.
We have a huge variety of apples available to you throughout the season! Some of the apples we have at our orchard are: Whitney Crab, Beacon, Paula Red, Zestar, Ginger Gold, Sweet Tango, Chestnut Crab, Cortland, NW Greening, McIntosh, Sweet 16, Honey Crisp, Gala, SweeTango, Haralson, Honey Gold, Regent, Connell Red, Golden Russett, Fireside, Keepsake…and so many more!
Apple varieties ripen at different times of the Fall – so make sure to call ahead if you are looking for a specific variety!”
