We open our mazes and pick-your-own flower fields during the summer —  typically runs June through October — depending on weather and field conditions. We offer acres of beauty, nature and joy. When we opened our first maze in 2015, we dreamed of creating a beautiful and educational experience for all to enjoy. We think we’ve succeeded! Formerly known as Ladybugs Alive!, we are family owned and operated, now under the name Goldpetal Farms. Our mission is to blend agriculture, horticulture, ecology and the visual arts through our sunflower mazes. As a result, we’re creating memories, and that’s pretty cool.”

Beaver Dam Farm Sunflower

13561 Lee Hwy, Buchanan, VA 24066

Whilst your main aim when visiting Beaver Dam Farm Sunflower festival is to see the stunning sunflowers, there is so much more to do there too!

“The Beaver Dam Farm Sunflower Festival helps to diversify the farms income. The farmland was purchased in 1900 and began as a dairy in 1927. In September of 2019 the farm sold out of the dairy industry and now runs beef cattle and has a hay and straw operation. The farm is still owned and operated by the family today.

In 2016, 20 acres of black oil sunflowers were planted. As a result of the beautiful scenery, the fields were opened up for visitors to walk through and adore. Visitors also enjoyed hayrides, farm animals to pet, and numerous craft and food vendors.

Today, the festival has widely expanded and still consists of hay wagon rides and a farm animal petting area. Over 90 unique hand made craft and food vendors have been added, along with photo booths, and live music. There is something to do for every age!

Once the festival is over, the crowds have diminished and the sunflowers have all dropped their heads the farm will harvest the seed and bag it into black oil sunflower birdseed. Beaver Dam Farm sunflower seeds can be found in Northwest Hardware locations and The Best Place Antique Store.”
