We have been raising alpacas and harvesting alpaca fleece in a sustainable and healthy way for ourselves and our community since 2005. We chose to raise alpacas due to their gentle nature and exquisite fleece, also called fiber. Concentrating on sound conformation, reproduction, notable genetics, temperament, and fleece characteristics are the main goals of Double 8’s breeding program. Production females, herd sires, stud services, and non-breeders are available for purchase.
The nutrition and training of alpacas at Double 8 Alpaca Ranch are of utmost importance. We believe that a nutritionally sound and well-trained alpaca is a happy and healthy alpaca. Our alpacas can be handled for routine health tasks such as weighing, toenail trimmings, de-worming, shearing.
The fiber that we harvest from our herd is either sent to mill or hand processed here at the farm. We sell yarn, roving, and products such as socks, hats, scarves, gloves, and felted items, some hand-made and some made at our mills.
Double 8 Alpaca Ranch offers an array of services, such as consulting with and mentoring new alpaca farmers, farm tours, weddings, birthdays, and educational events for local school, 4-H, girl scouts and boy scouts. Even the German Consulate and a couple local veteran groups came to learn about farming with alpacas and agri-tourism here at Double 8 Alpaca Ranch.

She was given an alpaca (Solomon) that had mange (alpaca eczema) that was so severe he looked like his skin was peeling off and he had no fiber there. Judy spent a year trying to find the cure and eventually discovered the perfect mix of essential oils. Solomon was healed within 2 months. She then began using the spray on people who had eczema with exceptional results. Judy loves helping people and animals through herbs, diet, yoga and creating a healthy and happy mindset.”
