Apple Picking in Colorado – The notion of apple picking is one that conjures up romantic images of happy families exploring picturesque orchards and picking crisp red fruit with golden leaves.  As you explore Colorado in the autumn be sure to get out into the countryside to enjoy the delights of the traditional, wholesome orchards and take some time enjoying the most classic of fall activities – pick-your-own apples!

Apple picking season near Colorado begins in mid August and continues through to the end of November.

Adams Apple Country Store

“Adam’s Apple Orchard & Country Store primarily grows apples along with several varieties of plums and pears. Ya Ya Farm and Orchard

“Part of a historic century-old farm specializing in heirloom apples, YA YA Farm & Orchard is a U-Pick-It Apple Orchard located in Boulder County,  Colorado.    We offer family-oriented fall activities,. While not certified organic, we practice natural and organic methods.

When you visit the farm stand and orchard  you may visit our farm animals-Percheron Draft Horses, mini donkeys, chickens, ducks, and peacocks.  Bring a picnic if you wish.  Enjoy all things apple in our farm stand – apples, apple cider donuts, apple pies and oh so much more!

We do not charge an admission fee.  U-Pick requires prior reservations and is sold out generally by August.  We look forward to having you here at the orchard!”

In 2012, Nelms Farm was established to provide the Nelms Farm family with the opportunity to share the fruits and vegetables grown in the orchard without the use of chemicals or pesticides. Guests are welcome to visit and pick their own apples. 

Please note that reservations are required for all visitors to the farm. We request one reservation per group of 6 or less. There will be 3 reservation groups available each hour. We will have lots of potatoes, honey, and jam as well as peaches and apples.”

The Fritchman family has been in the fruit-growing business for five generations. They have around a hundred acres of land on a mesa near Cedaredge and in the orchards of Orchard City. “Welcome to Fruit Basket Orchards, the only full service U-Pick orchard in western Colorado. Orchard Creek Ranch

At Orchard Creek Ranch organically maintained heirloom orchard of super sweet Jonathan, Rome and Double Red Delicious apples.  We also have fresh pressed cider, apple chips, vinegar, t-shirts, reusable produce bags, Colorado wildflower honey infused with CBD rich Hemp Oil and fresh Lavender. 

“Orchard Creek Ranch (OCR) is approximately 80-years-old and located between Glenwood Springs and New Castle Colorado. Our orchard is 100% organically maintained, growing heirloom varieties of Jonathan, Rome, and Double Red Delicious apples.

OCR U-Pick apple season begins around the mid-to-last weekend of September and runs through October, weather and crop size permitting.
In addition to picking apples, which are sold by the pound, items for sale include organic fresh-pressed apple cider, apple cider vinegar, dried apple chips, apple wood chips for barbecuing and apple firewood. We have Hemp and lavender infused HONEY, and Lavender products for sale too! OCR also sells 100% certified organic grass/alfalfa hay.
Those wanting to pick OCR organic, heirloom apples are invited to pack a picnic lunch and bring the whole family. We recommend participants wear flat, sturdy shoes, a sunhat and bring drinking water.

Uncle Johnny’s U-Pick Farm is a family run farm in western Colorado on the southern side of The Grand Mesa near Cedaredge. They have 11 acres of apples cherries peaches blackberries raspberries strawberries currants vegetables and farm animals. It is all pick your own / cost is by the pound.

“The pumpkin patch opens to the public in middle of September.  A 5 acre u-pick apple orchard with more than 40 varieties of apples. They also have pick your own pumpkins starting in September on their 1/2 acre pumpkin field.
