Apple Picking in Boston – The notion of apple picking is one that conjures up romantic images of happy families exploring picturesque orchards and picking crisp red fruit with golden leaves. The perfect family activity has been created, with no tech in sight! As you explore Boston in the autumn be sure to get out into the countryside to enjoy the delights of the traditional, wholesome orchards and take some time enjoying the most classic of fall activities – pick-your-own apples!
Apple picking season near Boston begins in mid August and continues through to the end of November.

Shelburne Farm

Whilst the apple picking at Shelburne Farm is very good there is much more to enjoy during your time there too including eating cider doughnuts, exploring the combine harvester playground, meeting the farm animals and hopping aboard for a hay ride! Located just on the outskirts of Boston they grow 90 different varieties of apples!

“Fall is a popular time of year at Connors Farm, when items such as pumpkins, hardy mums, native apples, freshly squeezed apple cider. During this season we offer “pick your own” apples and pumpkins. Try the challenge of our corn maze and afterwards, relax on a hayride around our farm. This is the busiest time of year for our bakery. Parlee Farms is a fabulous traditional working farm that grows stunning produce throughout the year. Be sure to visit during fall for some pick your own apples.
“At Parlee Farms, our Lowell MA area apple orchard covers over 19 acres. It is comprised of dwarf apple trees which, although small in stature, produce large, delicious apples. Typically from late August through October, we grow over 20 varieties of apples including Honey Crisp, MacIntosh, Gala, Early Fuji, Macoun, Cortland, Royal Empire, Decoster Jonagold, Cameo, and Golden Delicious. On weekends and fall holidays, hayrides are available to take you to the orchard. You can see our beautiful farm on your way to the orchard. After picking, the hayride will bring you back to the Farmstand, where you continue your perfect fall afternoon.”

We start Labor Day Weekend and generally go through Columbus Day or into the middle of October depending on crop conditions. C.N. Smith Farm, located in the town of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, has been a family owned and operated farm for over 80 years. We are the third generation of farmers carrying on the tradition of providing fresh, local fruit and produce while maintaining open space and farmland in our community. We sell only our own, in-season, locally grown fruit and produce. Fruits and produce sold at our farm in East Bridgewater, or any of our farmer’s markets locations were planted, grown, and harvested in our own local fields. Our on-site cider mill is federally inspected and certified.
