Fruit That Starts With O
Oval Kumquat
The oval, or Nagami, kumquat is the most common species. It is native to southern China and bears yellowish orange fruits that are about 3 cm (1.2 inches) in diameter. The round, or Marumi, kumquat is indigenous to Japan and has orange like fruits that are about 2.5 cm in diameter.
Oro Blanco Fruit
The Oro Blanco fruit is another fruit that begins with the letter O. It can be known as Oroblanco, or “white gold”, the sweetie fruit is a seedless citrus hybrid between a white grapefruit and an acid-less pomelo.
The fruit is round or oval shaped with a thicker rind than grapefruit but isn’t as bitter.
Olives
Yes, olives are fruit and not vegetables. It’s the stone inside that makes them classed as a fruit. Olives are perfect in cocktails or on your pizza, and of course provide us with delicious olive oil. Olive groves can be found in abundance in Greece and Italy.

Okra
Sometimes called “lady’s finger,” okra is a flowering plant with edible seed pods. It grows best in warm climates and is often cultivated in Africa and South Asia. Though technically a fruit, okra often gets used like a vegetable in cooking.
Orange
You can’t have a ‘fruit that starts with O’ post without mentioning oranges. Orange trees are widely grown in tropical and subtropical climates for their sweet fruit. The fruit of the orange tree can be eaten fresh, or processed for its juice or fragrant peel.
Olallieberry Fruit
The Olallieberry is the marketing name for the ‘Olallie’ blackberry. The berry was a selection from a cross between the ‘Black Logan’ (syn. ‘Mammoth’), and the youngberry, which was developed in Louisiana. You can find lots of Olallieberry fruit growing in California.
Oregon Grape
Another fruit that starts with the letter O – A common member of the Barberry family that can now be found wild in parks, gardens and some woodland. The RHS describes the plant itself as a vigorous, low, spreading, evergreen shrub with glossy green, slightly prickly leaves becoming purplish in winter. Large clusters of yellow flowers appear in spring, followed by black berries.
